Michael Schumacher is the latest significant name in Barcelona to claim that Red Bull Racing have a clear advantage at the front of the field. On-track for the first time this week on Thursday, the seven-time title winner was in action after Team Principal Ross Brawn commented that Mercedes are in need of losing one second per lap.
“We had a very productive day, we did lots of setup work,” Schumacher explained to GPUpdate.net and other reporters.
“We worked a lot at the others tests to make sure that reliability is of no concern, as much as you can say that in Formula 1! The priority now is to fine-tune the car and that’s what we’ve been doing today quite successfully.
“I need a little bit more time with my engineers to evaluate and analyse. It’s going to be a close competition. I see Red Bull being clearly up front but clearly the challenge will be hard. It’s obviously our big task, to manage and set the car to the conditions it needs for the Pirelli tyre, but we have improved with that and I hope we can improve further.”
