McLaren vs. Renault


The following is a press release distibuted this evening by the McLaren Mercedes team ahead of Thursday's World Motor Sport Council hearing in Monaco. The Renault F1 team face charges of industrial espionage due to the transfer of data via former McLaren emplyee Phil Mackereth to the Anglo-French team.

"The FIA has asked us to correct certain factual errors contained in a press briefing given on our behalf by one journalist concerning Renault F1 and we are pleased to do so. The corrections are as follows.

"In our briefing, we stated that there were 18 witness statements from Renault employees admitting that they had viewed McLaren confidential information.

"To the extent that this implied that 18 different Renault employees admitted viewing McLaren confidential information it was inaccurate. 13 Renault F1 employees provided 18 witness statements and nine of them have so far admitted they viewed and discussed the confidential technical information belonging to McLaren.

"We stated that the confidential information on computer disks was uploaded onto 11 Renault computers.


This is not accurate. Mr Mackereth copied information onto 11 computer disks.

The information on these 11 computer disks was uploaded by Renault IT staff in September 2006 onto Renault’s T: drive and then transferred by Mr Mackereth to his personal home directory stored on Renault's network server. A back up copy of the material on Mr Mackereth’s personal directory was made onto an unknown number of Renault’s back up servers/tapes.

"Our briefing could have been interpreted as suggesting that the Renault employees who admitted sight of McLaren Confidential Information all viewed it on computer screens.

"Only Mr Mackereth and Mr Hardie admit viewing McLaren Confidential Information on Mr Mackereth’s computer. The other seven employees who have admitted seeing McLaren Confidential Information admit seeing it in the form of computer print outs or hard copy documents.

"We said that the information on the 11 computer disks taken by Mr Mackereth included 780 individual drawings.

"This was an error. The information taken by Mr Mackereth on floppy disks, in hard copy form and by email amounts to 762 pages when printed out. The 11 computer disks included 18 individual technical drawings. Mr Mackereth also admits that he took hard copy drawings of McLaren’s dampers.

Novinari španjolskog Asa donijeli su apsolutnu ekskluzivu u svijet Formule 1, jer samo oni tvrde da je McLaren obnovio pregovore s Fernandom Alonsom povodom povratka u momčad. Koji je razlog tog nevjerojatnog obrata? Navodno su prebogati španjolski sponzori odlučili otići zajedno sa svojim sunarodnjakom, a Ron Dennis, koji mora platiti FIA-i 100 milijuna USD zbog špijuniranja Ferrarija, taj financijski udarac ne može izdržati.
I zato je odlučio prijeći preko svih vrijeđanja, samo da bi sačuvao budžet. Španjolski novinari tvrde da su u McLarenu spremni prihvatiti Fernandov zahtjev za isključivo jednogodišnjim ugovorom, te mogućnost da određuje strategiju za utrku neovisno od Lewisa Hamiltona, no, glasnogovornica britanske momčadi odlučno je odbila 'svaku pomisao na obnavljanje pregovora s Alonsom'.

McLaren nece platit 100 miliona. Platice oko 40 miliona jer FOM (Formula One Menagement) daje McLarenu oko 60 miliona za osvojene bodove.

Ochekujem dobru sezonu...
Mclaren ce biti standardno dobar,ferrari isto,renault ce biti bolji sa Alonsom,od bmw-a isto ochekujem napredak...e sad,Honda i Red Bull mogu lako da iznenade.

Iako je rano govoriti,Ferrari favorit za titulu konstruktora,jer jedini ima 2 top vozaca.

Pa sto pricas coce? Kakvi su bili u zadnjih 3-4 godine? Znas li da nisu mogli zavrsit jedn jedinu trku? Jel se secas 2004-te?

Sve to stoji,ali s obzirom da su ove sezone napravili dobar bolid i da su do 2010 zabranjene bitnije modifikacije,rachunam da ce zadrzat tu blagu prednost u odnosu na ostale timove,izuzev Ferraria,naravno.

Vidish nijesam racuno na odlazak Alonsa,on im je dosta doprinio ochitavanjem telemetrije i podeshavanjem bolida,a sto se tiche copy/paste ,ne znamo koliko su skinuli sa ferraria i koliko je to uticalo na kvalitet njihovog bolida.

Secondo il Times l'ex McLaren, due volte campione del mondo, ha accettato di tornare alla Renault ottenendo però una clausola rescissoria che dopo un anno gli consentirà, qualora volesse, di passare alla Ferrari.

Double Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso will return to the Renault team next season.
The 26-year-old Spaniard, who left McLaren last month after a tempestuous season, announced on Monday that he had signed a deal "for 2008".

Renault's former test driver, Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr, will be promoted to the race team as Alonso's team-mate.

Renault would not confirm the length or value of the contract, although there are reports Alonso will earn £25.2m.

Alonso is believed to have negotiated number one status with Renault.

Finn Heikki Kovalainen, who had an impressive rookie season with Renault in 2007, is expected to move to either McLaren, where he would partner Lewis Hamilton, or Toyota.

Kovalainen, who is managed by team boss Flavio Briatore, was considered by the team to be good enough to challenge Alonso, and therefore keeping him was not in the interests of a harmonious team.

Alonso has been linked with a return to Renault since it became clear during the summer that his position at McLaren had become untenable.

The relationship between Alonso and McLaren was strained from the start of the season, and it degenerated beyond repair during the spy scandal that rocked the team in 2007.

The two parties reached the point of no return during a row between Alonso and team boss Ron Dennis at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August.

During a disagreement about Alonso's status within the team, he threatened to reveal incriminating e-mails about McLaren's knowledge of confidential technical information belonging to Ferrari to governing body the FIA.

Although Alonso soon apologised, that was not before Dennis had phoned FIA president Max Mosley to tell him of his driver's revelation.

McLaren, who been found guilty but not punished by the FIA in July of possessing the Ferrari information, were called back before its world council and this time fined $100m (£49m) and excluded from the 2007 constructors' championship.

Without Alonso, Renault struggled in 2007 because of design flaws in their car and problems adapting to the control tyres that were introduced last season.

They are considered likely to be more competitive in 2008.

F1: Schumacher neće voditi razvoj F2008

Nakon što je sudjelovao na oba predsezonska testiranja, Michael Schumacher inzistira kako neće voditi razvoj Ferrarija za 2008.


Potom što je bio upitan hoće li voditi tehnički razvoj bolida, Schumacher je odgovorio: “Ne vjerujem da sam adekvatan za to.”

“Službeni vozači će raditi po tom pitanju,” sedmerostruki svjetski prvak dodao je za Diario As.

“Moja jedina pomoć može biti će iskustvo.”
