Tehničke promjene za sezonu 2014. zadržale su Mercedes u najelitnijem Motorsport natjecanju. Da nije bilo uvođenja novih V6 motora, njemački bi gigant teško ostao u Formuli 1. Renaulta sigurno ne bi bilo, a ni Honda se ne bi vratila. Thomas Weber, jedan od članova odbora Daimlera, izjavio je:

“Bilo bi dobro kada Mercedes pobjeđuje, ali smo mi kao izvršni odbor neovisni o njima. Ne bi bilo svrhe ostajati u F1 ako bi samo pobjeđivali. U tom bi slučaju jedini argument bio marketing. Po meni, biti u Motorsportu samo zbog marketinga nije dugog vijeka.”

Također je savjetovao sport da fanovima objasni zašto je nova zelena tehnologija dobra za Formulu 1.

“Moramo objasniti zašto je ovo smjer u kojem Formula 1 treba ići, za mene jedini smjer. Mnogo ljudi misli da može vječno kritizirati, no oni ne znaju koliko je opasno i kompleksno diskutirati o F1 u javnosti. Manji motori, turbo i hibridna tehnologija – to je F1 trenutno.”

Montezemolo: To all those jealous people wanting Domenicali’s job they have to fight for it!

La Gazzetta dello Sport, the influential Italian sports daily, speculated on Friday that Ferrari could be poised to make a change at the top.
It has long been reported that Stefano Domenicali, the fabled Maranello team’s chief, might not survive too many more disappointing seasons at the helm.
“(I) say to all those jealous people wanting this job: they have to fight for it!” Domenicali told Formula 1′s official website last week.
According to Gazzetta, however, 48-year-old Domenicali might finally be losing the support of Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo.

Montezemolo left the Bahrain circuit last Sunday part-way through the Grand Prix, declaring that watching “slow” Ferraris gave him “great pain”.
Now, at an event at the Ferrari museum in Maranello on Friday, Montezemolo reportedly said: “I already know what you want to ask.
“My reply is that we will leave no stone unturned to be where we need to be. We will work day and night to improve and make the decisions that we need to take.”

Mercedes ocigledno favorizuje Hamiltona, ogromnu prednost ima onaj koji prije ide u boks. I da nije bilo SCa lako bi Hamilton pobijedio zahvaljujuci ekipi. Niko je kad su bili na istoj komponenti pokazao da mnogo bolje cuva gume, a posle prvog pita je drzao ritam i cak smanjivao iako je bio na tvrdjoj komponenti. Znaci da nije bilo neke razlike, ako je uopste izmedju tvrde i meke, posebno kada su bolidi bili puni. Na kraju trke je bio na meksoj komponenti ali je barem tri puta Luis mijenjao putanju prilikom branjenja, sto ne smije da radi. I kad ga u prvih 3-4 krugova nije pretekao vise nije ni bilo sanse, mislim da bi to lagano uradio da je i on bio na tvrdjim gumama, jer su se bolje pokazale na Sakiru.

Volio bih da vidim obratnu situaciju, da Hamilton napada sa bolidom koji je brzi 20kmh, koji ima DRS i mekse gume. Mislim da bi ga pojeo, sazvakao i ispljunuo na livadu pored staze

bolid ispred svakako ne moze da koristi DRS sve i da je ispravan, mekse gume su dobre za 1 napad poslije ih mozes u smece na ovako vrelim stazama

Inside Line: Ferrari pave the way for the return of Ross Brawn to Maranello

Stefano Domenicali finally relinquished his post as team principal of Ferrari, for many the decision was long ovedue and although he resigned the post the truth is he was sent packing but given the diginified option of resignation – arrivederci Stefano, bygones are bygones let’s move forward…
Formula 1′s most famous team is desperate for stout leadership and there is only one man on the planet capable of fulfilling the requirement – Ross Brawn – and word is that F1 unknown Marco Mattiacci is only in the post for a stop gap measure while Brawn finishes his fishing adventures.
Mattiacci, president and CEO of Ferrari North America, is simply underqualified and totally inexperienced for the role, thus obviously a temporary measure.
The final decision to oust Domencali would have been made during the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend where Luca di Montezemolo made a dramatic appearance at the event, leaving the race in disgust long before the finish. He also had some not so secret meetings with Fernando Alonso in the latter’s hotel room.

Between then and now Montezemolo is said to have done a deal with Brawn and engineered Mattiacci’s repositioning within the organsiation while they mark time before Brawn rejoins the team.
No one can forget that Brawn was one of the key members of the most successful Formula 1 team in history which saw Michael Schumacher win five titles between 2000 and 2004, under the leadership of Jean Todt. Brawn has that blueprint to work from.
What Brawn touches tends to win. He went to Honda and engineered them into a winning outfit, alas for Honda they pulled out just as their investment was to pay off. Instead Brawn GP (built with Honda resources) won the 2009 drivers and contructors titles.
Brawn’s tenure at Mercedes also helped them on the road to success. Toto Wolff is the first to acknowledge that Mercedes’ current success and even the W05 is packed with Brawn’s fingerprints.

Furthermore, Brawn knows the intricate and ever so volatile inner working of Maranello better than most non-Italians and this will enable him to galvanise the team which is currently split into subtle factions.
But perhaps most importantly, having worked with the great Schumacher, he will have the know-how to pacify a visibly disgruntled Fernando Alonso who is being openly flirted with by McLaren, and an equally frustrated Kimi Raikkonen.
The truth is that for now Brawn will not be able to take the woeful Ferrari F14T and turn it into a winner, but he will inject a breath of fresh air into the team which is ready for a constructive revolution.
The return of Ross from his extended fishing trip cannot happen fast enough for the Reds. (Inside Line by Paul Velasco)
