- avion se srušio na gusto izgrađen kvart blizu Karačija, olupina je okružena ostacima kuća i zgrada, pa se strahuje da je bilo žrtava i na zemlji;
- na snimcima komunikacije sa kontrolom leta, dostupnim u arhivi atclive.net, čuje se da je avion odustao od prvog slijetanja zbog nepreciziranih tehničkih problema; u drugom pokušaju, pilot pribrano objavljuje "mayday", kaže da su "izgubili" motore i da skraćuju prilaz pisti;
- na fotografijama planespotter-a, navodno nastalim neposredno prije pada, vide se crni tragovi na motorima, a nazire se i RAT Air Turbine - propeler na donjem dijelu trupa, koji obezbjedjuje elektricnu energiju potrebnu za hidrauliku sistema upravljanja avionom, u slučajevima kada motori zakažu tokom leta;
U narednim nedjeljama i mjesecima ćemo znati više o tačnim uzrocima nesreće.

Bird strike mozda.
vele na pr i prilaz landing gear, a onda drugi put bird strike....sve jos u domenu teorija
The runway at Karachi airport is about 10,000 feet long. Between the 4,500 and 7,000 feet marker, inspection revealed friction marks that suggest the plane made some contact with the runway,” he explained. “We suspect these marks were left by the aircraft’s engines as they scraped the runway. At 4,500 feet marker, we noticed marks we believe were from the left engine. The right engine appears to have made contact at the 5,500 mark.”
“The pilot then pulled up again to circle around for a second landing approach. It is possible that the damage caused to the engines when they made contact with the runway led to failure, possibly even fire,” the official added. “As the engines failed, the pilot struggled to maintain an altitude of 2,000 feet and we know what happened then.”
According to CAA officials, the captain never notified air traffic controller that he would be attempting an emergency landing. “The standard operating procedure in case of emergency landings is to spread a special landing foam on the runway before the plane makes an approach. Since the pilot never notified us, we never had a chance to make these arrangements,” another CAA official said.

Narodski rečeno: bambara.The report said: “[The two crashes] were the horrific culmination of a series of faulty technical assumptions by Boeing’s engineers, a lack of transparency on the part of Boeing’s management, and grossly insufficient oversight by the [Federal Aviation Administration] — the pernicious result of regulatory capture on the part of the FAA with respect to its responsibilities to perform robust oversight of Boeing and to ensure the safety of the flying public.
It found the company successfully persuaded the FAA not to classify the anti-stall system as “safety critical”, meaning that many pilots did not even know of its existence before flying the Max.

Zbog ovoga:
Some analysts are pessimistic that Boeing will be able to close the gap. Customers are not only seeking more capacity in their single-aisle aircraft but they want narrow-body aircraft with the range of more costly wide-bodies to help bring down operating costs. Airbus’s A321 — a larger, longer-range derivative of the A320neo — fits the bill better than the Max, say analysts. “Will Boeing ever catch up? No,” said Ron Epstein, aerospace analyst at Bank of America. “While they were fixing the Max, their competitor was putting finishing touches on the 321XLR, a very capable long-range narrow-body aircraft. It is more capable than anything Boeing has.”
Boeing’s response to the A321 is the larger Max 10 — due to enter service in 2022. But with a shorter range than the latest A321 variants it is regarded by many as less capable.
As for the core of Boeing’s short-haul offering, the 170-190 seater Max 8 jet is “a wonderful plane for what it does, but it is one plane”, said Mr Epstein.

My bad
