The narrow upper air intake allows better air to go to the center of the rear wing. Thus, Ferrari uses it to load the central region of the wing more than its sides, using a huge curved spoon in the center of the main plan (on a small width)
With this concept, they achieved something that satisfied them in terms of Cog, drag and load.
But this huge spoon stays in place when the DRS is open, causing significant drag compared to a horizontal main plan, which produces a top speed loss. I think the rear wing is responsible for almost 1/3 of the total drag in F1, and the RB gains at least 10km/h on Ferrari while using DRS alone. Ferrari chose a relatively high-loaded rear wing concept, presumably relying on the engine to invisibly balance top speed (like Mercedes in previous years). But as RB went for a concept favoring the Vmax (probably in reaction to the Mercedes of recent years), Ferrari finds itself in difficulty to overtake in races (they seem to manage to compensate in quali so far).
So, for Ferrari, if recovering some Vmax involves abandoning the spoon shape, the balance of the air intake/rear wing concept is called into question.
By this I mean that to reduce the opened DRS drag, by giving up the spoon, they will have to recover the load on the sides of the wing flap, which inevitably will lead to an increase in drag when the DRS is closed
So, maybe they will go to a copromise, by keeping the spoon on most tracks but shifting to a no spoon solution on fast ones, which is not ideal to exploit the whole car concept.
As F1's pace is about details, this one could matter
RBR-u ne treba veci spojler zato sto generiraju dovoljan downforce pomocu podnice a u isto vrijeme ne skakucu. Ovima treba spojler veci vrata moje garaze zato sto ne mogu iskoristiti podnicu (ground effect) do kraja.

Što znam... Erceg mi nije ni pristrasan, nit naporan, a ponajmanje dosadan za slušanje, tako da i te kako jeste diskutabilno.
Erceg je mašina sa odličnim pamćenjem,Paja je voditelj/navijač.

I ja sam do prije par godina bio ovog mišljenja i prenose gledao isključivo preko skyf1. Sad sam već mislim da su Erceg i Dejan ok (mnogo informacija imaju što aktuelnih a što istorijskih) a Paja više kao posmatrač/filozof valja neke opšte fraze sa strane. U prenosima i kvalama provalili da prate live timing pa tu kao nešto dodatno doprinose. Ali priča o vozačima broj 1 i 2 me ubija iz nedjelje u nedjelju...

definitivno su se popravili....ali ako cemo pravo i dalje to nije nivo koji imaju na SKY-u npr....
na SKY IT uz komentatore je tu i Nico Rosberg bio prosle sezone...a prije njega Zak Vilnev... tako dai oni daju jednu novu dimenziju prenosima....
Znas li kad ce ovi biti na nivou Skaja? Nikad.
pazi, ni kuca za koju rade im to ne moze ponuditi... ali i pored toga nivo njihovog prensoa F1 je za nekog po mom misljenju amatera.... a opet kazem, i tu su se popravili

Momci su ok za resurse koji su njima dostupni i pokusavaju stvoriti nesto sto do sada nije bilo na nasim prostorima. Samo se sjetite prenosa F1 koje su komentarisali Kustudic i Sofranac....
Strolu dali novi bolid, a Fetelu stari za Barselonu. Sraman je Aston Martin.
