I was told this by a friend.... Is it true? I just can't picture these people not smoking in bars and restaurants.

It's true, but no one is enforcing it.

I think it is unbelievable to make such mistakes in different pronunciation with a single word

The restaurants haven't *****d up the ashtrays and the customers haven't stopped using them.

I am not fond of second-hand smoke, but on the other hand the lack of respect for intrusive government is one of the things I like about Montenegro.

Will, it's not a common thing in western countries, is it?

How do you feel about neglecting law here? Excited?

We in American wrote the book on civil disobedience, but we have since forgotten how to do it. Over a century of government propaganda has turned Americans into sheep. The average American would unthinkingly respond to a government summons for his own execution.

Seeing people here ignore government pronouncements renews my faith in our species.

If I disobeyed the law wouldn't the others take me as retarded and uncivilized in western countries? :twist:

Which system do you find more useful in terms of human liberty and prosperity?

    Most likely they would!

Personally, I make the distinction between malum in se and malum prohibitum (those terms are in Latin). Malum in se refers to acts which are bad in and of themselves, while malum prohibitum refers to acts which are bad only because they are illegal.

I will borrow from Civil Disobedience and say "That government is best which governs least."

I think the property owners should be allowed to decide what happens in their establishment. If you don't like their rules, go somewhere else.

I'm a non-smoker. I don't care if people smoke. I can just choose to eat/drink somewhere else. People need to lighten up and stop trying to control others.

Was,nt the US the 1st to bring in the smoking ban in enclosed public spaces?

The UK imposed this ban,i think around 2007/8,without looking it up.

You are correct about the UK ban. It was 2007.

The Ottoman sultan Murad IV prohibited smoking in his empire in 1633....

In 1990, the city of San Luis Obispo, California, became the first city in the world to ban indoor smoking at all public places, including bars and restaurants.[35]
