Name of Vendor: ServInt Internet Services
Description of Maintenance:
Beginning at 12:30 PM today, EDT, ServInt's engineers will be replacing
the RAID controller in the VPS host server that your account is hosted on.
We have discovered that the particular controller used in the host server
your VPS account operates on can generate data corruption under certain
circumstances. When we have seen instances of this corruption, it has
caused a data loss situation that has required the restoration of VPS
accounts from backup, resulting in long downtimes. We have acquired a
replacement controller that fixes this problem and need to install it as
quickly as possible in order to prevent this problem from occurring on
your VPS host machine.
This process will require a short window of downtime for your VPS. The
upgrade requires us to shutdown the host server, replace the RAID card in
the host server chassis, and boot the server back up. Since this will be
a clean shutdown, there will be no long downtime caused by vzquota
recalculations. We anticipate that the length of each customer's downtime
will not exceed 10 minutes in total. We apologize for the short notice,
but we hope that you agree that a small controlled maintenance window is
far preferrable to the possibility of a longer unplanned downtime
accompanied by the need for data restoration.
