Juan Pablo Montoya: 5th
I didn’t take advantage at all of my third place on the grid, since right after the start I was trying to defend my position from Alonso and I went off track, losing four places. After that, I spent my race trying to find the right moment to overtake the cars in front of me but that was no easy job, since the balance of my car wasn’t ideal and on top of that I had quite a lot of tyre graining. I also experienced a problem with my right rear wheel during my third pit- stop which lost me some more time.
Ralf Schumacher: 4th
Of course I cannot be happy with today’s result, even if, after all, I have made up four places from my starting position and I have collected some points for the team. We were on a good strategy and the team did an excellent job in the pits. Worrying is the fact is that at this race, we are missing one second from Ferrari, which I didn’t expect and I believe this is down mainly to the design of their car as well as to some tyre graining for us, which we have to overcome. The whole of our package needs to improve slightly and this is going to take maybe a couple of races, but I am confident we can make it.
Michael Schumacher:
"A perfect race but a tough one in the early stages, when Rubens was pushing me hard. That made it exciting and I could not afford to make a mistake. The car was going well, it's a step forward and more consistent to drive. It is great to leave Australia with 2 more points than I had after the first three races last year. After the last test at Imola and knowing the characteristics of this track, I was sure we would be competitive but I did not expect such a performance."
"The backmarkers were well behaved, but two guys tried to do me a favour by braking early which caused me a slight problem. But I am keeping my feet on the ground, because this race and the weather conditions suited us perhaps better than the others. We will have to wait and see what happens in Malaysia where it will be much hotter. I do not want to predict the season based on just one race."
Rubens Barrichello:
"I was happy with my start and it gave me a chance to run deep into the first corner and try and pass Michael, but I decided the move was too risky. Then I tried again at Turn 3, but there was no way round. I kept on pushing him hard and closed up when he got delayed a bit in traffic. But by then, I started having brake problems, although I kept pushing and trying to pass him up to the point of the second pit stop. But after the stop, the brakes did not seem to have cooled very much and I had a very long pedal. Combined with the extra fuel load I was worried that I might crash if I pushed too hard, so from then on I backed off. Apart from that, the car was very good and Bridgestone has done a fantastic job with the tyres."
DAVID COULTHARD
"It has really been an unsatisfying weekend for us and the one point we achieved today is a very small consolation. I made a good start and gained a few places but eighth was all we could do. We are not where we want to be, but we will work very hard on getting there and hopefully should be able to improve for the Malaysian Grand Prix in a few weeks."
KIMI RAIKKONEN
"I'm very disappointed with our performance this weekend, but hopefully we can do better in the next race. I stalled at the start and lost a few places but managed to regain most of them during the first couple of corners. The car felt good, but unfortunately it didn't last very long, and I retired with an engine failure ? definitely not the best way to start the season."
Button questions Renault starts
Alonso leapt from fifth to third at the start, Trulli from ninth to fifth
BAR star Jenson Button was the first, but probably not the last, driver to question why both Renaults made such good starts in the Australian Grand Prix now that launch control has been banned.
Renault has historically had the best launch start system, and has no doubt worked on mimicking its actions manually, as required by the 2004 rule book. But even so, Button – a former Renault driver – aired his suspicions.
"It was very slippery out there [on the startline]," he said. "The only people who were quick off the line were Renault, which is quite strange when you take into account that it's meant to be manual starts now."

1. Ferrari
2. Williams
3. Ili Renault ili Bar - Honda
Trulli bice u 5-6 mjesta a na 4 bice Ralf!
- They made these new regulations to cut back engine power... to make the races tighter... to reduce the gap between Ferrari and the others.... and now Schumacher is leading with a 50 seconds gap before Alonso who is 3rd... Congratulations to the FIA!
- This is the fastest lap EVER completed in Australia with breakfast and sunbathing included for Schumacher...
- Now let's keep praying Schumacher won't reach and overtake Montoya... That would be a shame... Montoya was running for championship last year and nopw Schumacher is about to give him a lap.... Just can't believe this....
- I can't believe this. That's just can't be. OMG. Here's this 35 year old, still young, man with six WC titles and where the hell does he get more motivation from???
- Ok, we have to admit it. We have to take our hats off before Ferrari. I remember the times when the Scuderia only had its name. I remember the tools scattered all over the floor of the pits, the mechanics hanging around like a lazy loose band. And then came Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and Schumacher and under the leadership of Luca Di Mintezemolo they built up a team that is constantly winning for years now. Now the pits look like a sterile operating room and the the team is like a family. They hold together and look what the result is, the two Ferraris are well ahead of the field despite of all the new regulations.
You just have to take your hat off and bow.
- one of the commentators talking about Ross' and Michael's realtionship ... Ross Brawn is the only one who can talk to Schumacher during the race. he constantly keeps talking to him especially in the last laps.
other commentator: Now he must be busy keeping him awake, he might fall asleep in his big loneliness there.
1st commentator: Just don't start feeling sorry for him! He's beating the field with a minute!
- I can't believe this. Nah. No. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUH. Schumacher's running with a tight 1.24 time... Montoya's 1.28.... Uh. What the..? And they are on the same 3-stop strategy! So it's not even the fuel load difference! God...
hahahaha
dobro je to... dobro se ismijah ovome 8)
Ferrari's pace:
1sec/lap faster than the nearest competitor,
the ability to be 1-2 over the whole weekend,
lapping all but 4 cars (because they decided to cruise safely home and not make fun of the willies),
lap record of MS faster than qualification lap record,
MS and RB talking who was pushing whom, as if there was noone else on the track,
F2004 breaking every lap record on every track it drove in test and race,
Bernie's publicly displayed feelings of rage at the Ferrari performance,
sto mislite sto ce fia da uradi sledece ako ovakvo stanje bude i na narednim trkama :?:
F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was in Melbourne to watch the debut of the Saturday-system and called it and Ferrari's dominance no less than a 'disaster.'
'[Ferrari] were supposed to have all sorts of problems with tyres and their engines but it doesn't look like they have,' he said after the one-two.
Ecclestone also said the one-engine regulation, designed to cut costs and give the little teams cheap engines, was 'terrible' and way too long for television.
BAR boss Dave Richards has already put-forward an alternative where a free-for-all session takes place for 30-minutes before a single-lap dash for the grid.
WORST THING
Former champion Niki Lauda called the system the 'worst thing' he'd ever seen.
'I don't know how intelligent people can think of things like this,' he said.
Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello agreed, insisting that there is no motivation to drive fast in the first back-to-back and that Friday practice is now 'boring.'
Renault chief Flavio Briatore confirmed that the team bosses will get-together to discuss changing the system, possibly in time for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
'Something can be done quickly if we all say 'yes, do it',' the Italian added. 'Only the stupid never change their minds. Then again, this is very stupid.'
Ecclestone favours a return to the one-hour long free-for-all qualifying.
'Basically, he said it is much too long a thing for television and I agree,' said the first grand prix winner of the new F1 season, Michael Schumacher.
Next is Malaysia:

evo izgleda da ralf prelazi u reno!
Ralf Schumacher is to leave the Williams-BMW Formula One team and sign for Renault for next season, according to his manager.
Willi Weber told Tuesday's edition of Bild newspaper that he and the younger brother of six-time world champion Michael had agreed all the details with Renault supremo Flavio Briatore.
"We have agreed every point of the contract with Briatore," said Weber. "The signing of the contract is a mere formality."
interesantno
After the first race in which Ferrari destroyed its rivals, this did not go down to well with the FIA.
Qualifying was a flop and Bernie himself that he was not impressed and that Ferrari dominating the way they did was not supposed to happen and something needed to be done..
The FIa are now considering serious changes before the race season hits Europe. Already one change discussed is changes to the qualifying before Sepang.......
However these comments have not gone down to well with the big brass at FIAT as well as Luca de Montezemelo...
HE is threathening to pull Ferrari out of F1 if changes made are actually implemented to hamper Ferrari....
Luca feels that the other teams are not delivering and challenging Ferrari thus forcing the FIA to devise means and ways to hamper the Scuderia....
There was a time when Ferrari were out in the cold and were at times lucky to make it to the grid....and nothing was done to hamper and stop those teams from dominating the sport but now that Ferrari who had to wait 21 years for the championship and
are now on top in F1 the FIA is going out of its way to help the mostly British teams to catch up and beat Ferrari...
Looking at the last 3 seasons there have been accusations by many that the FIA was pro-Ferrari yet evidence clearly shows that the FIA are in fact anti-Ferrari...
:lolblue:
Dobra fora za malog Juana... "School of the bleeding obvious"
Ovo je vrh, :lolblue: :lolblue: :lolblue: :lolblue: :lolblue:
