Long run performance
Teams needed to get in some meaningful running on the ultrasoft tyres in race conditions to get a sense of how the tyre would perform in the opening stint of the race, if it is dry on Sunday.
Vettel managed 14 laps on the tyre with some noted degradation, while Hamilton’s long run on it was slower; similar on pace to Bottas’ supersoft long run.
There was limited running on the soft – Red Bull didn’t use it at all as they only have one set for the whole weekend, they prefer to run the supersoft.
Meanwhile Mercedes looked very fast on the soft tyre with low degradation. A strategy of ten to 12 laps on ultra softs and then 32 laps on softs is certainly doable, but Mercedes and Ferrari both have the pace to qualify on supersofts and start the race on them; this would open up flexibility in the strategy. Ricciardo managed 32 laps of SIlverstone on a set of supersofts, but he may struggle to do that here with similar loads and a longer lap.
Mercedes has a lower pace delta between the ultrasoft and the soft than any of the other top teams, at around one second. Others are quite a few tenths slower on the soft than the ultrasoft; it looked closer to two seconds for Raikkonen in FP2. Vettel didn’t use the soft.
After the problems encountered in Silverstone with blisters on the Pirelli tyres, there were some today, but nothing too concerning, according to the Mario Isola, the company’s F1 project leader.

Belgium - A spat has reportedly broken out behind the scenes between title protagonists Mercedes and Ferrari.
Auto Bild reports that Mercedes surprised its Italian rival by launching a new engine specification at Spa Francorchamps.
0.9-litre rule
The controversy surrounds the recent 'oil in fuel' saga, with the FIA having declared that as of the next race at Monza, every engine can only consume a maximum of 0.9 litres.
But Mercedes, Ferrari and the other engine manufacturers had reportedly entered into a 'gentleman's agreement' that any upgrade released before Monza would comply with the new 0.9 litre rule.
However, it emerges that Mercedes' brand new engine at Spa was in fact upgraded according to the existing rules allowing 1.2 litres of oil consumption -- therefore breaking the 'gentleman's agreement'.
"Ferrari asked before Spa if any teams were planning new engines, but the answer was no," reported Germany's Sport Bild.
Auto Bild said the FIA has confirmed that Mercedes did not breach any official rule.

Sere mi se, da izvinete, od tih njegovih rekorda.
U zadnje 3-4 godina vozi apsolutno dominantan bolid i kroz sve te godine je imao jednog jedinog protivnika...pockem se ja na sve te rekorde njegove.

pa u doba sumahera imao si uvijek makar 3 tima spremna da uzmu pol... bio to meklaren, ferrari reno ili wiliams... u zadnjih 4 godine 95% je uzeo mercedes, a onda kad dodas na to da kalendar zadnjih godina ima po 20 ili vise trka... tada nije imao 15...
i sobzirom koliko su se od tada. mijenjala pravila, cini mi se da se sa gorivom iz kvalifikacija pocinjala trka.. jer je bilo moguce dolivanje...
hamilton jeste brz vozac ali u ovim uslovima bi ih sumaher imao jos koji... sena je tu cudo
luis samo u mercedesu ima 42 pol pozicije...2015 i 2016 je szone zavrsavao sa dvocifrenim brojem...a to ce najvjerovatnije biti slucaj i ove godine, jer ih vec ima 7...
sumaher npr u sezoni 2002 kad je pocistio konkurenciju i zavrsio sa 3 puta vise bodova od treceg montoje je imao 7 pol pozicija kao i montoja...a 2004te kad su dobili 14 od 17 trka opet nije prebacio 7-8 pol pozicija...
luis jeste brz vozac u jednom krugu...ali je jasno da za tako nesto ima i vise nego dobar alat pod guzicom...

Throughout qualifying, both McLarens decided to give each each other slipstream throughout their laps. Vettel said Ferrari had not decided to do the same ahead of the session and that Raikkonen's decision to give him a tow in the final sector was decided on the spot.
"He wanted to obviously finish that lap but I guess when he did that mistake and where we were positioned he just cruised back to the pits and I guess the team didn't even tell him anything. I think he just saw the red car in the mirror and thought I'd hand him a tow, which is quite nice.
"It was obviously a big help, quite useful for me, but it wasn't planned. I saw some other teams playing around with tows previously in qualifying but it's usually one of those things you can't really plan so you tend to stay away from them. To answer your question it was very spontaneous.''

Odgledah Tedovu biljeznicu, izgleda da je Kimi, pošto je uprskao svoj krug, sam riješio da pruži Sebu zavjetrinu i omogući mu 0.2 sec u trećem sektoru. Naravno odmah su se pojavile teorije da je to zakucano u novom Kimijevom ugovoru, da su to Seb i Ferari tražili od njega...Quote:

Juce su to planski radili samo ovi iz Meklarena za Alonsa.
Kimi je sam odlucio da pomogne Sebu kad je vec pogriesio u svom brzom krugu i ostao bez sansi za dobar rezultat i svaka mu cast na tome.
Pricat da je to planski uradjeno je preglupo.

dje mi ga je bizbi sad....
da mi je neko rekao da na ovakvoj stazi ferrari nakon silverstona moze citavu trku da bude iza mercedesa u 2s ne bih mu vjerovao...
steta sto seb nije imao jos koji kilometar u rezervi na startu i na restartu...
