Today, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team officially launched its challenger for the 2005 FIA Formula One World Championship season, the Williams BMW FW27, at Valencia.
In the ‘Air Nostrum’, at the Spanish coastal city’s airport, some 200 guests and media representatives had their first glance of the FW27. In the afternoon, the new car will make its on-track debut at the ‘Circuit de la Comunitat Ricardo Tormo’.
The FW27’s design clearly reveals the effects of the new rules. To meet the new regulations, the front wing had to be lifted 50 millimetres and the rear wing moved 150 millimetres to the front.
Furthermore, the diffuser height has been restricted while the floor area in front of the rear wheels has gone. In addition, the new BMW P84/5 engine will have to last two entire Grand Prix weekends.

Germany's Nick Heidfeld will join Australian Mark Webber as the second driver at BMW Williams this year, the formula one team said at the launch of its new WilliamsF1-BMW FW27 car.
"We have decided, at the last minute, that Nick Heidfeld would be the team's regular driver," said Frank Williams.
The German wrapped up testing at Valencia last Wednesday, having completed more than 5,000 kilometres in testing.
Heidfeld, who raced for Jordan last season after spells at Prost and Sauber, had been in contention with Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia to become Webber's Williams team-mate in 2005.
Three teams have yet to complete their driver lineup before the season starts at the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne on March 6.
Jordan, taken over by Midland last week, have yet to announce any drivers while Minardi and Red Bull Racing have yet to name their second drivers.

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today confirmed that Nick Heidfeld has been appointed as a team race driver to partner Mark Webber for the 2005 season.
The appointment was confirmed at the launch of the team’s new car in Valencia. Antonio Pizzonia has also been retained by the team in the position of official test and reserve driver.
The announcement follows an extensive evaluation process that commenced in November 2004, and saw Heidfeld and Pizzonia test for 12 full days each.
The announcement, together with today’s launch of the Williams BMW FW27, focuses the team’s preparations for the season which commences on March 6, 2005 in Melbourne.
On the confirmation of his appointment, Nick Heidfeld said, “I really wanted this job. Driving for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team is the greatest opportunity of my career. I will do everything I can to show that I deserve this place and I’m counting the days to the first Grand Prix. ‘Racing’ against Antonio was a lot of fun. He’s a great teammate. I respect him and I would also have taken on the job of test driver.”
BMW WilliamsF1 Team Principal Frank Williams commented, “It wasn’t an easy decision for us to make, and there was little to choose between the two of them, and we were in the fortunate position to be able to choose between two drivers who would be a credit to any Formula One team. Ultimately, however, it is Nick who has got our vote, but I am delighted that we have strength in depth with Antonio taking up the position of official test and reserve driver.”
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen said, “All three drivers were very strong in the most recent tests – not only behind the wheel but also when working together with the engineers. The new team has grown together quickly and harmoniously. I’m very pleased for Nick. He earned the seat with his strong performance. Antonio knows that, as a test driver, he is also taking on a key role in the team.”
Antonio Pizzonia said, “I’m a racing driver and naturally I would rather be racing in all the Grands Prix. But in the past I have also learnt how important test work is for the success of the team as a whole. I also know as official reserve driver that you have to be ready to step into a race seat at any time. Although it is not the decision I wanted, I’m pleased to be part of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in 2005 and will give my best to help the team’s performance this year.”

After the initial laps of the FW27 on the Valencia circuit, team drivers Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld delivered their verdict on the new car.
Mark Webber
"A huge amount of work has gone into the FW27 because of the new regulations on aerodynamics and tyres, and BMW have done plenty of work with the two-race engine. We have to look for consistency and reliability with both cars and it is going to be a tough season, but after the first runs, I am happy with the car. The guys have done a good job, but I am sure we will find plenty to do in February to get ready."
Nick Heidfeld
"The FW27 looked great on stage this morning and it felt the same this afternoon on the track. I have only driven a couple of laps so far, but already it feels familiar. Hopefully a strong preparation for the season ahead starts now."
BMW mi liči na Hondu..... :roll:
Vidji vidji stvarno :D :D :D
Nevjerovatnih 2 sekunde :roll:Quote:

U picku materinu sto je to
Ali cudo radi aero dinamika
Ferrari F2004 0-100 za 2,6 sec.
A šta pričate Vi momci?
Pogledajte Ferrarijevu istoriju pobjeda:
Ferrari je 1982 i 1983 godine osvojio konstruktorski naslov;
1985 Michelle Slboreto borio se za naslov sa Prostom;
1987 Berger pobjeđuje na zadnje dvije trke;
1988 Berger je jedan od tri pobjednika na trkama te godine;
1989 Mansell ostvaruje dvije pobjede;
1990 Prost 5 puta pobjeđuje i bori se za naslov ali Senna u Japanu osvećuje se za 1989;
1995 Ferrari osvaja 73 boda;
1996 Sa Schumijem osvaja 70 bodova;

Sauber Petronas started its three-day test at the Circuit Enzo e Dino Ferrari today. Jacques Villeneuve covered 63 laps in chassis C24-01 to set a best time of 1:23.777s. Felipe Massa ran 106 laps in chassis C24-02 with a best time of 1:23.485s.
The test is the first for the team at Imola with Michelin tyres. The team hope to find additional downforce a well as pace in what is their final test before heading to the Australian Grand Prix. Felipe Massa's lap of 1:23.485s would have placed the Brazilian 16th on the grid for last year's San Marino Grand Prix.
"Today Felipe ran an aerodynamic programme and compared different front wings," explained Chief Race Engineer Jacky Eeckelaert. "Part of this was the assessment of a newly developed front wing being a result of our wind tunnel work."
"Beside this Felipe tested Michelin tyres for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Jacques worked on further set-up improvements and thereby concentrated on a new traction control software."
"Tomorrow Felipe will test tyres for the Grand Prix in Imola in April and will carry out some set-up work too. For Jacques we have scheduled a simulation of a race weekend."
Minardi were also in action today at the circuit with 2005 race drivers Patrick Friesacher and Christijan Albers both on track in the PS04. Friesacher set the third fastest time, just over two seconds slower than Villeneuve, while Albers was fourth just a tenth of a second behind his new team-mate.
Imola - 19/02/2005
1 . F. Massa - Sauber Petronas C24 - 1:23.485 (+ 0.000 ) - 106 laps
2 . J. Villeneuve - Sauber Petronas C24 - 1:23.777 (+ 0.292 ) - 63 laps
3 . P. Friesacher - Minardi Cosworth PS04B - 1:25.883 (+ 2.398 ) - 59 laps
4 . C. Albers - Minardi Cosworth PS04B - 1:25.983 (+ 2.498 ) - 47 laps

Ralf Schumacher has hit out at former team BMW Williams claiming they are far from being a top team and has no chance of providing a championship winning car for the 2005/06 campaign.
Schumacher, 29, ended his six-year spell at the team when he joined the Toyota team at the end of the season and believes the expectation levels at his former squad are far too high.
“I did not know I was driving for a top team," Schumacher told the Kolner Stadt Anzeiger. "It did not seem that way in the six years I was there. The high expectation levels at BMW Williams were totally unrealistic.”
"Apart from the (BMW) engine there was not much quality there and the optimism could not be justified."
Germany's Nick Heidfeld and Australian Mark Webber will drive for BMW Williams this season but Schumacher ridiculed suggestions the pair would be going for the world title.
“I do not think BMW Williams have a championship winning car this season," Schumacher added.
Schumacher’s new team has meanwhile been busy with its new car in Barcelona over the last week. The new car has yet to show the progress Toyota so desperately seek. Williams meanwhile have also failed to show any great pace in testing, underlining Schumacher’s belief that the FW27 is not a championship winning car.
