So does AMD have any chance at all beyond a new architecture in 2011? Is it over and out for AMD in 2009 and 2010? Adding 2 cores at the end of 2009 is a good step in the right direction. But even if AMD executes flawlessly the 32 nm Xeon Westmere will only give a window of a few months to the AMD hexacore "Istanbul". Istanbul should appear at the end of 2009, the Westmere Xeon is scheduled for very early 2010.
Westmere has few performance optimizations, it seems to be a pretty straight forward shrink. Slightly higher clockspeeds, about 20% lower power consumption, and yet another addition to the ridiculously long list of SSE-instructions in the form of seven new instructions (six instructions are for crypto/AES acceleration). Westmere is only an evolutionary step forward, but the "Grand Canyon" gap that Nehalem EP has made is probably large enough.

If you're on a budget or would rather spend the money you save by buying a 3GB kit over a 6GB one in order to upgrade your graphics card, you will end up with 3GB of memory and still be extremely happy.
Don't let someone tell you that buying 6GB is a must; if you're not the kind of user that is going to use it, the money could be better spent in other areas where a bigger impact will be made on performance.

hladjenje Core i7 josh uvijek otezhano, na 3.5Ghz najbolji kuleri ga jedva spushtaju ispod 70C pod opterecenjem...Trebace radikalna promjena u dizajnu, ili nam se mozda blizhi prelazak na vodeno hladjenje, koje se dosta usavrshilo proteklih godina, kao uobichajen vid hladjenja...

Intel Core i7 je najnoviji tip procesora, ima 4 jezgra i HYPER THREADING tako da ga kompjuter vidi u Task i Device Manageru kao osmojezgarni.
Novi procesor ne moze da se ugradjuje u postojece ploce, za njega ide novi SOCKET LGA 1366
Zasad, jedini chipset koji podrzava ovaj procesor je Intelov X58, koji konacno objedinjuje nVidia SLI i Ati Crossfire.
Takodje, nov chipset&procesor podrzavaju Triple-channel memoriju. Svi koji prate kompjutere znaju sta je dual chanel. Triple radi na isti nacin, samo sto koristi 3 memorijska kontrolera i tako TEORIJSKI mnozi memorijski BANDWITH sa 3 :)
Da se vratimo na procesor. Navodno podrzava iskljucivo DDR3 memoriju, ali cu morati detaljnije da provjerim da bih bio 100% siguran.
Procesor se radi u 45 nm i zasad imamo samo 5 modela iz 2 prodice... "obicne" i "extreme edition" - Extreme edition su procesori sa otkljucanim mnoziocem, namjenjeni overkloku.
Svi procesori rade na Base Clocku od 133Mhz, na dosta visocijim mnoziocima u odnosu na Core 2 Duo i Core 2 Quad.
Iz "obicne" serije imamo:

Da nebi bilo zabune, drugi broj je mnozilac. Koliko sam cuo, procesor se dosta dobro overklokuje.
Ukoliko vam se ne ulazu neke velike pare, najbolje je kupiri Core i7 920 i overklokovati ga na nekih 3Ghz.
Da ironija bude veca, svi procesori imaju istu CACHE memoriju. Ona iznosi 256 KB L2/po jezgru i 8 MB shared L3.
TDP svih gore navedenih i7 procesora na fabrickim clockovima iznosi 130W
i treba dodati da podrzavaju Triple-Channel Memory
i da je pozeljno (nisam siguran jeli obavezno) da budu tri slota popunjena memorijom - DDR III
naravno da su najbolja kombinacija Triple Channel Kitovi

Bio mi je poznat pod tim CODENAMEOM, kao Conroe za Core 2 Duo :)
Al jbg... Nisam vidjeo TOPIC kad sam otvarao... Anyways... mozerte slobodno PASTEovat linkove od Testova i chuda sto imate jer ce na SEARCH vecina trazit i7 :)

hahahahah najjace da cemo 3 strane topika na kojem ima sve zhivo za nehalem arhitekturu da kopiramo...
ti nisi koristio search, core i7 je pomenut mnogo puta na ovom topiku, i eto ti ga u 5 prvih rezultata pretrage kad ukucas Core i7....
inace topik se redovno osvjezhava, bio je na 10to mjesto na prvoj strani...
