Plans for Toyota to introduce a replacement for its Supra sports car are inevitable, according to sources. The rendering above is an indication of what such a twenty-first-century Supra might look like, but click the minimized magazine article (immediately below) for some real world shots of what may be the final result.

Hopefully headed for production (and the United States) in 2006 and likely based on the upcoming second-generation Lexus IS platform, the new coupe (which might get a new name) is said to be a modern interpretation of Toyota's classic 2000GT of the 1960s. Engines are set to be 3.0- and 3.5-liter normally aspirated V6s matched to a six-speed close-ration transmission. The curvy, compact, all-new sports coupe is expected to be a direct competitor to the Nissan 350Z, which certainly has enjoyed a successful head start. The previous Supra was last sold here in the 1998 model year, by which time it, like the last-generation Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, had suffered dwindling sales as a result of high sticker prices and spiraling insurance costs. As Nissan has done with the 350Z, Toyota wisely will avoid expensive and complex twin-turbo engines for the new Supra, which should allow for asking prices in the $30,000 range.

Dužina je 5 015 mm i 5 135 mm. LS460 teži samo 1 700 kg koliko teži i BMW 5. Njegovi konkurenti imaju po 700/800 kg viška.
Biće tu nekoliko motora, LS460, LS500 i LS600 Hybrid. Cijena oko 50 000 funti.

Mogu da kažem da je najbolji!!!

Toyota će postati najveći svjetski proizvođač automobila

TOKIO - Toyota Motor Corp. prestići će 2006. godine trenutno vodećeg proizvođača automobila General Motorsa povećavajući proizvodnju na više od 9,2 milijuna automobila godišnje, objavio je lokalni list.

Toyota je odlučila povećati proizvodnju iduće godine za 12 posto u odnosu na 8,3 milijuna automobila 2005. godine, što je povećanje za 900.000 vozila i, primjerice, više od godišnje proizvodnje Mazde, prenosi list Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

Tvrtke Daihatsu i Hino iz grupe Toyota nisu kompletirali planove za iduću godinu, no očekuju porast od 900.000 automobila u 2005. godini zahvaljujući rastu prodaje u zemlji.

GM će prema najavama zabilježiti pad globalne proizvodnje procijenjene na 9,12 milijuna vozila zbog pada prodaje i zatvaranja tvornica, piše list.

Ma znam ja da su to "automatske brzine" ali ne vidim svrhu 8 brzina trpat u kola.

Sto vise brzina, to manja potroshnja, bolje ubrzavanje i td. Bolje je imati 5 nego 4, bolje je imati 6 nego 5, bolje je imati 7 nego 6, bolje je imati 8 nego 7 i naravno, bolje ej imati 9 nego 8.
Da je u pitanju DSG sa 8 brzina, ti bi rekao da vidi shta radi VW i td. i td.

Toyota's luxury arm Lexus has revealed that it will build a rival to Mercedes' Maybach super-saloon, priced at around $100k. Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. boss Yuki Funo told Automotive News that the new flagship would offer V8-powered LS430 owners the chance to stay with the brand if they decided to 'move up' to "Rolls-Royce" territory.
Funo said: "For the brand [an expensive flagship] is quite important. But at this stage we don't know what it is going to be - a two-seat coupe, a four-seat sedan, or whether the engine will be a V-10, a V-12, or whatever. From a marketing and sales perspective, we need a strong product that should be regarded as the flagship or the ultimate Lexus. At a certain point we should have that kind of product. Doing something like a Maybach is too much. But we are thinking in the vicinity of $100,000." He would not comment on exactly when the Lexus top dog would arrive, though.

Zamisli, za 100 000 dolara dobiješ ovaj "Maybach"! Pa gdje to ima?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!??!?
